Truss Project
Objective: The objective of this project is to ensure whether a truss composed of HSS 152 X 152 X 6.4 is adequate to withhold the loads. The adequacy is checked through the stress ratios that is introduced within SAP2000.
Qualifications: For it to be adequate, the ratio has to be close to one but not greater than one. If it is not adequate in certain parts of the truss, two things can be done.
Change to a different HSS for the sections in the truss that is not adequate
Optimize the truss
Option two is ideal since it ensures everything is optimized without any other part of the truss being not adequate.

Portal Frame project
Objective: The objective of this project is to determine if W840 X 176 is adequate for the portal frame. Through the use of SAP 2000, the loads are applied to the portal frame.To determine the adequacy, the envelope combination is used. The project report can be found here: portal project
